About Zagreb
Zagreb, the capital of the Republic of Croatia, is situated in the northern part of the country along the Sava River. With a history spanning over a millennium, the city features its medieval Upper Town and numerous cultural landmarks that reflect its long and diverse past. Being located in the center of Croatia’s horseshoe-shaped territory, Zagreb’s position reveals the richness of Croatian culture, shaped by Mediterranean, Turkish, and Austro-Hungarian influences. Its streets combine historical charm with lively public squares and green central parks.
All activities take place within 15 minutes walk. Zagreb city center is generally not a large area (about 10 km2), which means using public transport is usually not necessary. If going by foot is not an option for you, or you wish to visit more distant parts of Zagreb, there are several options.
If you plan to use taxis, we recommend downloading the Bolt or Uber app and ordering taxi rides through one of these two platforms as other taxi services in Zagreb tend to be more expensive.
For the buses and trams, which are the cheapest option, you can purchase physical tickets at any Tisak or iNovine kiosk or similar newsstands (located throughout the city). Tickets can also be purchased directly from the bus/tram driver, but in that case, tickets are more expensive and you should have the exact amount in cash (no cards accepted). You can also use Moj ZET app which is the most convenient option. The information about fairs is available here.
If you use a physical ticket, you must validate it on board for it to be valid, which you can do by inserting the ticket into the card reader located at the first doors of the tram only. If you use Moj ZET app, simply follow the instructions and scan the QR code.
Below, You can find the tram line network map.
